According to Marca, Chelsea are keeping tabs on the Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez for a potential move this summer. As per Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are yet to decide on adding a midfielder this season. If the club and the manager agree “Yes” to the answer then they might consider Saul Niguez a viable option.

The 26-year-old has been loyal to Atletico Madrid since joining them at their youth squad in 2009. Till now, the midfielder has racked up 339 appearances for the Spanish side, in which he scored 43 goals and 20 assists. However, his time at Atletico Madrid might come to an end this summer due to his uncertain future. Saul Niguez lost his regular place in the midfield to Marcos Llorente last season. Following which reporters emerged he might leave the La Liga champions this summer.

Despite not being able to secure a regular spot at Atletico last season, the midfielder had many followers lined up for him. In which names like Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona are included. However, as per the latest reports, it is Chelsea who are keeping tabs on Saul Niguez.

The Champions League winners have made two signings this summer reinforcing their attacking and goalkeeping departments. But, several reports suggest they are still deciding on whether they need to reinforce their midfield this summer. Thomas Tuchel has only three great options in his midfield and playing them match after match is not a good idea. Following which the blues are considering signing Saul Niguez to have one more midfield option.

As of now, there have been no official talks held between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid. However, Atletico might agree to sell the midfielder at €50 million despite having a €150 million release clause on him. But Chelsea have to think wisely as they are also in the race for Jules Kounde who will cost at least €60-70 million.
