Mauricio Pochettino, the Chelsea manager, revealed his assessment of Christopher Nkunku’s chances of making his debut for the Blues tomorrow night. In his pre-match press conference, Pochettino stated that the Frenchman had a commendable training session today. Thus, suggesting the possibility of Nkunku being in the squad in the EFL Cup tomorrow.

The Blues gear up for the quarter-finals of the cup tomorrow night. Hence, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is in pursuit of his inaugural trophy in England.

Only a few weeks after enduring embarrassment against the same opposition in the Premier League, Chelsea will be facing Newcastle United. Meanwhile, the Blues have been suffering with injuries throughout the season. And their misfortune dates back to the pre-season period.

Will Nkunku start for Chelsea?

Nkunku had been impressing with a robust performance during the United States tour. That is before an injury forced him to leave the final pre-season fixture against Borussia Dortmund.

Approaching the final two games before Christmas, the 26-year-old has yet to make a competitive appearance.

Nkunku was on the bench over the weekend for the Sheffield match. Thus, raising anticipation among Stamford Bridge attendees eager to witness his capabilities. However, the Blues managed to secure victory without relying on his contribution from the bench, as second-half goals from Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson sealed the win.

The Chelsea manager said: “Lavia, still no. Christoph trained well today. Maybe we have the possibility to be involved in some minutes.”

Hence, fans can hope Nkunku will possibly start for the crucial EFL Cup match.
