Chelsea might let go of Gallagher as they begin talks with Tottenham

Tottenham are having ongoing talks with Chelsea regarding Conor Gallagher. With the intention of securing the England midfielder in January for a reported fee of £40 million. Despite Gallagher having captained Chelsea multiple times this season, negotiations with Todd Boehly and others are underway. That is to sell Gallagher to their rivals Tottenham.

According to Di Marzio, discussions are in progress between the two clubs. Since, Spurs strive to come to terms with Mauricio Pochettino’s team on a possible £40 million deal for Gallagher.

Chelsea is open to exploring the possibility of parting ways with the midfielder. Despite him having started in 18 league matches this season. This willingness stems from the fact that his contract will be expiring at the end of the upcoming campaign.

Will Chelsea let go of Gallagher?

The club has been unsuccessful in reaching an agreement on a new contract with Gallagher, and there is a looming risk of losing him for nothing in 2025. This scenario poses the potential for a substantial £40 million profit on a player who emerged from their renowned Cobham academy.

Gallagher is reportedly a highly coveted target for Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff. Especially as they grapple with an injury crisis following their heavy defeat to Brighton.

In a fully available squad for Postecoglou, Gallagher could potentially vie for a spot alongside James Maddison and Yves Bissouma. Thus, competing with Pape Matar Sarr in the dynamic midfield setup for Spurs.

Multiple reports indicate that the two clubs Chelsea and Tottenham are nearing an agreement for Gallagher. However, Pochettino faces the prospect of losing a crucial element of his team during a challenging beginning to his tenure at Stamford Bridge.
