Chelsea will be missing a crucial player in clash against Manchester United

Graham Potter

Chelsea will be devoid of one of their regular starters, Conor Gallagher. That is for the upcoming game against Manchester United on Wednesday. Manchester United has been navigating a hectic schedule at this stage of the season. With an inconsistent performance reflected in a mixed bag of results under the management of Erik ten Hag.

Chelsea manager has to shoulder some of the responsibility. Since stylistically, it appears that the players are sometimes unclear about their roles. However, in my opinion, a significant portion of the blame lies with the players. The squad seems to lack the enthusiasm to exert the necessary effort at the moment.

Consequently, United could use all the assistance they can get. Leading up to the clash against Chelsea this midweek, the Reds have received an early boost as one of their key players is suspended for the encounter following a red card.

Absence of Gallagher can create problems for Chelsea

Conor Gallagher, a consistent starter for the Stamford Bridge club, got a red card in the first half of their recent match against Brighton. The Englishman will be serving a one-match suspension, leaving Mauricio Pochettino with one less option in midfield for the upcoming game.

The midfield has been a significant problem area for United in recent months, especially with numerous injuries affecting that part of the field. With Chelsea now missing one player, it does provide a slight leveling of the playing field in that regard.

United’s current midfield trio is somewhat predetermined, which is less than ideal. Kobbie Mainoo, Scott McTominay, and Bruno Fernandes form the core. Thus, representing the best available options. Sofyan Amrabat stands as the only other fit senior player in that particular area of the pitch.
