Crystal Palace near completion in Joachim Andersen deal

Patrick Vieira has set a rebuild in motion at Selhurst Park. Crystal Palace are nearing completion in signing Lyon defender Joachim Andersen.

Andersen spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Fulham. The West-London side eventually faced relegation. He made 31 appearances and scored a single goal.

Sky Sports News claims that Vieira is now looking at another center-half. Palace are keen to invest in their squad this summer, having secured Marc Guehi(21) and Michael Olise(19).

The deal will cost the Eagles around £19,000,000. There are chances of a possible rise to £23,000,000 with add-ons for the Danish international.

Crystal Palace and Lyon are confident an agreement, for Andersen, will be reached. Personal terms for the 25-year-old do not pose an issue.

Andersen has attracted interest from a number of clubs this summer, including Premier League side Tottenham. Palace are hopeful of closing the deal soon.

He was part of Denmark’s Euro 2020 squad. The defender made substitute appearances in their knockout-stage matches against Wales, Czech Republic and England.

The 25-year-old is expected to sign a five-year deal. He completed his medical in Greece on Friday.

Palace also want to bolster their midfield. Olise has arrived but will unfortunately miss the start of the season through injury. The Eagles are in contention with Leeds United over a loan move for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher. They had all but signed the midfielder on loan last summer only to make a last minute switch to Michy Batshuayi instead.
