Departures: NorthEast United FC departs with 8 players

Eight players, including Alex Saji, Aaron Evans, Sehnaj Singh, Kule Mbombo, Joseba Beitia, Wilmar Gil, Alisher Kholmurodov, and Laldanmawia Ralte, have officially left NorthEast United FC after their contracts with the team expired.

Gil’s ability to score goals was the most pleasing, joined the squad in the middle of the 2022–23 campaign. He had a significant influence right away. Despite the team’s league-wide troubles, the forward led them from the front and assisted them in regaining some pride.

The Colombian striker was instrumental in helping NorthEast United FC get to the Hero Super Cup semifinals and scored the game-winning goal in a major upset victory over the Mariners.

Gil scored an astounding 15 goals for the team in just 15 games, averaging one per 74 minutes.

Before the 2021–22 campaign, the club signed Laldanmawia Ralte and Sehnaj Singh. For the Highlanders, Singh made 11 appearances. While Ralte played in 21 games across all competitions, scoring four goals and dishing out one assist.

In his 19 appearances, Australian defender Evans, who joined the team last summer, produced two goals from set pieces in addition to playing a crucial defensive role.

Both Joseba Beitia and Kule Mbombo, who were acquire during the winter transfer window, saw action in just nine and six games, respectively, for the squad.

After a brief six-month stint with NorthEast United FC, versatile defender Saji, who was on loan from Hyderabad FC, has returned to his parent organisation. Saji participated in 11 Hero ISL and Hero Super Cup games with the Highlanders.

Kholmurodov is a defender from Tajikistan. He joined the team for a brief period of time during the Hero Super Cup, has also left the group.
