Diego Mauricio parts ways with Odisha FC, Signs for Middle East Club

Influential Striker of the Indian Super League outfit Odisha FC Diego Mauricio has parted ways to play for the Middle East Club. He joined the Odisha FC on 31 August 2020 on a season-long deal.

According to the Transfer Market, the 30 years old Brazilian Striker has signed for Qatar-based club Al Shahania SC on a one-year contract on 14 August.

It will be Mauricio’s first spell at Qatar and he will be thinking to keep up his form at his present club. He will be an asset for the club as his skills to infiltrate the defence of the opponent makes him one of the dangerous striker.

The Juggernauts had a disappointing last season as they finish the league at the bottom of the points table. However, it did not affect Mauricio’s performance. Mauricio played all the 20 fixtures for the Odisha FC and scored 12 goals while providing 2 assists.

The striker has experience for various clubs in Asia such as Ratchaburi FC (Thailand), SJZ Ever Bright (China), Busan IPark and Gangwon FC in (South Korea). Lastly, he played for the Odisha FC of India.

Odisha FC have laid a strong foundation for their team ahead of the upcoming season. The club has signed two Spanish defenders who have won the ISL previously with their former ISL teams.
