I-League 2020-21 winner Gokulam Kerala FC have signed Muhammed Rafi from the Mar Athanasius Football Academy on 21st May.
The youngster represented Blue Colts in the U-19 category and was part of the team that won SAFF beating Bangladesh by 2-1 in 2019.
The 20 years old Center back is from Muvattupuzha in Ernakulam district. Previously he was a part of Bengaluru Academy. He also played with the team that won Bengaluru Super Division.
His fine performance playing for the Mar Athanasius College team drew the attention of the Malabarians. He had won one man of the match award in the tournament and also scored one goal.
He played mainly in the center-back position for MA College. But was also positioned as wing-back to bring more attacking intent out of the youngster later during his spell in MA college.

The president of Gokulam Kerala FC VC Praveen stated, “Rafi is an upcoming footballer from Kerala with ample experience with the national team in various age categories. We have a philosophy to promote young Kerala players and his signing is another example of it. We want to promote as many local talents. I am sure Rafi will have a bright future with the club”.
