Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann admitted his side struggled to contain Mason Greenwood during Tuesday’s 3-3 draw with Getafe in La Liga.

Mason Greenwood Masterclass

After Greenwood excelled once more for Getafe in a thrilling 3-3 La Liga tie against Atletico Madrid, Griezmann lauded the attacker. After leading 3-1, Diego Simeone’s team appeared certain to win as Griezmann tied Luis Aragones for the record as Atletico’s all-time greatest scorer with two goals. Even though Stefan Savic was sent off in the first half, the hosts still controlled the game. However, Getafe’s two late goals to salvage a draw at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium prevented them from winning all three points.

Griezmann stated to DAZN, “We had put in a lot of work with ten, so it’s unfortunate. Savic’s two fouls and two yellow cards are unfortunate. Ultimately, you cling on… We were badly injured by Mason Greenwood; we were unable to stop him at the conclusion of the game, and two goals were scored.”

What’s next

Greenwood’s performance builds on his previous successful outing against Sevilla. Getafe won 3-0 thanks to goals and an assist from the Manchester United loanee. Although Manchester United isn’t anticipate to decide on Greenwood’s future until the spring. The Liga team has already said that they want him to stay permanently.

Mason Greenwood hopes to continue playing for Getafe as he looks to revive his career with Jose Bordalas’s team. He has started 11 of the team’s 18 La Liga games this season. If the attacker decides not to continue with Getafe, he may choose to remain in La Liga. The Manchester United loanee has been in links to La Liga leaders Barcelona, while Real Sociedad and Valencia have also reportedly expressed interest in the attacker.
