Reports claim AC Milan target Houssem Aouar told Roma manager Tiago Pinto that he will replace Nicolo Zaniolo at the club.
According to Radio Radio (via Milan News), Lyon’s midfielder Aouar could join the Giallorossi. Talks were circulating about the player joining Milan.
Lyon reached the Champions League semifinals under Aouar’s guidance in the summer of 2020. At the time, the 22-year-old Aouar was also ready to make his France debut. He is considered the future midfielder of Didier Deschamps’ team.
Next possible destination of Aouar
The first part of Aouar’s medical exams is also completed in a move. The entire process went under the radar of Seria A. There is a possibility that Lyon will not allow Aouar to leave in January. Meanwhile, Zaniolo may depart Roma at the end of this month.
Aouar’s contract ends in June 2023. This means he can leave on a free transfer which is good news for Roma and Milan. If both clubs are willing to pay a fee and can convince him to join them, then a January transfer is still possible.
According to Lyon, Aouar’s value is around £55m, and earlier Arsenal were the favorite to sign him. Besides Arsenal, clubs like Barcelona, Juventus, and Manchester City were also monitoring the midfielder. but speculation has largely died down since that summer.
Also, Real Betis were eyeing the midfielder along with Nottingham Forest. However, at present, it looks like Aouar is ready to join AS Roma despite all these rumors.
