Ilkay Gundogan does the unthinkable by walking off a team photo

ILKAY GUNDOGAN - MANCHESTER CITY

Ilkay Gundogan departure from a Barcelona squad photo at the Ballon d’Or ceremony was a significant snub. Gundogan captained Manchester City to a treble-winning season. With the Blues securing the Premier League, Champions League, and the FA Cup. However, he decided to end his career at the Etihad and made a move to Barcelona last summer.

During the Ballon d’Or ceremony, Manchester City became Men’s Club of the Year. But Ilkay Gundogan, who had transferred to Barcelona in the summer, did not go up on stage to accept the award. Additionally, he was in another controversial moment in Paris. That is when he appeared to walk off during a photo opportunity.

What exactly did Ilkay Gundogan do?

Ilkay Gundogan was participating in a photo with Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Alejandro Balde, President Joan Laporta, and Vice-President Rafa Yuste. However, the 33-year-old abruptly walked away from the photo opportunity, leaving Alejandro Balde looking confused.

This incident occurred just days after Gundogan criticized his teammates for their reaction to the devastating defeat to Real Madrid. During which Jude Bellingham scored a dramatic winner.

Ilkay Gundogan said:

“I have to be honest, not as much as I wish because I don’t want to say something wrong, but I was in the dressing room and of course people are disappointed.”

“But especially after such a big game and a result that is so unnecessary, I wish for more frustration, more anger and more disappointment. This is a little bit the problem.”

Ilkay Gundogan, who scored in his team’s El Clasico loss, will be hoping that Barcelona can make a strong comeback in their upcoming match against Real Sociedad on Saturday.
