India U-23 side have been drawn in Group E of the 2022 AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers, Uzbekistan. Additionally, the young colts face the United Arab Emirates, Oman as well as Kyrgyzstan tough group.

South Korea are the defending champions who defeated Saudi Arabia in Jan 2020. Whereas India didn’t qualify last time around after losing to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in Group F.

However, with some rising stars coming from the Hero Indian Super League, they might have a chance to qualify this time. ATK Mohun Bagan have the most representatives with 8 players making it to the squad from the Kolkata giants.

A big task ahead for India U-23 side in a tough Group E

Group E is a challenging group for the young colts and UAE would be the favourites to top the group. In the previous edition, they topped Group D but bowed down to hosts Uzbekistan U-23 in the quarterfinals.

Whereas Oman didn’t make it past the qualifiers last time despite finishing second in Group A behind Qatar U-23. Finally, they would have to face Kyrgyzstan, who finished last in Group E qualifiers last time around.

As there is a lot of time for preparation, India could be better as compared to the previous edition. The under-23 side have never qualified for the tournament and history could be made by the team. Here are some of the most valuable players in the squad.
