Kerala Blasters have appointed Ivan Vukomanovic as their new head coach

Indian Super League outfit Kerala Blasters FC have appointed Ivan Vukomanovic as their head coach. Ivan hailing from Serbia have been appointed for the next season.

Kerala Blasters FC on Friday announced the signing of Vukomanovic, Ivan will be the first Serbian to manage the Blasters. Ivan comes with broad experience from the top divisions of Belgium, Slovakia, Cyprus.

The 43-year-old began his journey by coaching Belgian club Standard Liege in 2013-14. Under him, the team qualifying in the UEFA Europa League for two consecutive years.

When it comes to experience and success Ivan has them both. He has managed teams like SK Slovan Bratislava in the Slovak Super Liga. With them, he won the Slovakia National Camp and was in charge of Apollon Limassol in the Cypriot first division. Ivan has also played for 15 years as a player before officially becoming a coach. Vukomanovic was a defender who could also play as a midfielder. Ivan has played for FC Bordeaux, FC Koln, Royal Antwerp, Dynamo Moscow, and Redstar Belgrade.

Vukomanovic might be the missing part of the puzzle that the blasters were looking for. Blaster’s sporting director Karolis Skinkys said “It was a long process to choose the right for the important head coach position. I think Ivan is the right fit for this challenge and responsibility, someone who can handle responsibility here”.The Serbian coaching team will also include Belgian assistant coach Palrik Van kets, with 18 years of coaching experience as a professional footballing coach. Having worked as an assistant coach at various clubs in Frace and Belgium.

The club has also conducted an individual training camp after the end of the last season so that the players could improve their fitness and skills during the off-season. The Blasters are surely thinking of a big comeback after all the humiliation they have faced in, past four years.
