Odisha FC have officially announced the appointment of their new head coach Kiko Ramirez for the upcoming ISL edition 2021-22. Ramirez has signed a one-year deal with the club with an option to extent it for further years.

Ramirez started his managerial journey as the assistant manager of the Spanish-based club Gimnàstic. In his early 15 years as a coach, he managed 4 different Spanish clubs. Later he joined Wisła Kraków, a top-tier Polish football club. After his spell in Poland, he moved back to Spain and joined Sabadell. The last time he managed Geek club Xanthi, back in 2019.

The 51 years old Spanish manager is a UEFA Pro Licenced coach with above 18 years of coaching expertise. He will replace Odisha’s former head coach Stuart Baxter. Last season Baxter got sacked by the club after making a disrespectful comment during a post-match interview. Later, Assistant coach Steven Dias took over Baxter place for the rest of the ISL season.

Odisha FC settled at the bottom of the league table last season. Throughout the league, they only managed to win two fixtures while losing 12, the most by any club.

The Juggernauts have recently released their star striker Diego Mauricio who has opted to ply his trade in Qatar. Moreover, Golden boot winner Igor Angulo is likely to make a move to the club in the coming week.
