Midfielder Deepak Tangri signs for ATK Mohun Bagan on a two-year deal

ATK Mohun Bagan have officially confirmed the signing of defensive midfielder Deepak Tangri on a two-year deal on Tuesday.

Deepak started his footballing journey in the Mohun Bagan Academy. He was a part of the Mohun Bagan team that won IFA Sheild runners-up in 2017. He played his professional senior debut for the AIFF developmental side Indian Arrows against Minerva Punjab. Moreover, he represented the Indian U-20 National team.

Chennaiyin FC signed him ahead of the 2018-19 season but instantly sent him back to Indian Arrows on a loan deal to attain more experience and skills.

The 22 years old made his Indian Super League debut for Chennaiyin FC in the 2019 ISL season. However, he could not get enough chances to play that season under head coach Owen Coyle. Under new head coach Csaba László he played 17 fixtures and clocked over 1000 minutes In the 2020 ISL season.

Deepak is an outstanding player who can be an asset for the Mariner as he is very comfortable with the ball in the backline while he can also play as a defensive midfielder. Under the Spanish boss Antonio Habas he will take on the likes of Sandesh Jhingan, Pritam Kotal, and Sumit Rathi in the backline.

After an excellent season with the Chennaiyin FC he can expect more play time in his new club.
