NorthEast United FC might shift their base to Gangtok for next season

NorthEast United FC’s last season ranking emerged to be the all-time, highest-ranking of the club since the inaugural season of the league. They reserved a spot in the playoffs last season and ended up in third place on the League table by the end of the campaign.

NEUFC is ISL’s only club that represents 8 states of India. India’s eight sister states Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim were combined and named as NorthEast United.

NorthEast United FC have its base in Guwahati of Assam state for the last 7 years. Recently, there are some talks of the club shifting its base to Gangtok of Sikkim state for the next season. In case of such shifting of the base, the club will announce it publicly.

NorthEast United performance last season

The Highlanders had qualified for the playoffs stage for the second time during the last campaign. They were the joint second-highest goalscorer club with FC Goa.

Luis Machado netted the highest individual goals for the club. NEUFC’s wizard Federico Gallego found the back of the nets four-time while providing 6 crucial assists. With 33 points on the table, they finished third.
