Jorge Pereyra Diaz – Argentina to Andheri

Jorge Pereyra Diaz is the Argentine addition to Mumbai City FC‘s arsenal of heavyweights. In this article, let’s take a peek into the career of the South American international.

Youth of Jorge Pereyra Diaz

Jorge was born on August 5, 1990, in La Rioja, Argentina. His love for the sport comes as no surprise, as his country has football running through its veins. Pereyra Díaz began his professional career with Ferro Carril Oeste. He then went on to sign with Lanus, where he helped them win the Copa Sudamericana. Just a year later, he moved to Malaysia to join Malaysian Super League side Johur Darul Ta’zim. He had a decent season, scoring 15 goals in 29 appearances. Jorge Pereyra Diaz was loaned out to multiple teams, like Independiente and Club Leon. These transfers never really clicked, so he returned to JDT. The same year, he had his contract terminated. He then had small tenures with clubs like Bolivar, San Marcos and Platense.

Indian Experience

In 2021, Jorge Pereyra Diaz completed the move to Indian super league joining the famous Kerala blasters on a full season loan. He had quite a good season, having netted goals against ATK, Mumbai City, and rivals Chennaiyin FC. He also had a hard time when he was handed a red card after being subbed against ATK. AIFF even charged him for violent conduct and gave him a one game ban.

In 2022, Mumbai City FC completed the one year loan deal with KBFC for Jorge. He scored his first against ATK again and later went on to score against his former team, KBFC. MCFC will be looking to use him massively in the upcoming season to have an edge using a South American style of attack.
