Kickstart FC’s midfielder Nikhil Raj joins Odisha FC on a loan deal

Odisha FC have roped in midfielder Nikhil Raj on a loan deal from Bengaluru-based Kickstart FC for the eighth edition of the Indian Super League.

Raj played for the Green Elephants in the Santosh Trophy for the last two seasons. He represented the team in the BDFA Super Division-leading them to finish fourth on the table. He also won the best midfielder title in the BDFA Super Division last season.

I-League club Indian Arrows signed the youngster in January 2020 on a short-term loan from kickstart FC. During his spell at the AIFF-owned club, the midfielder featured in nine I-League fixtures.

On January 26 Raj played his debut match in I-League against Real Kashmir. Raj stated all the nine matches for the Indian Arrows in the I-League 2019-2020. Although he went back to Kickstart FC in May 2020 as the I-League got canceled due to the Covid 19.

“I am very happy. I am very excited to play in the Indian Super League. I expect to learn a lot of things there, and I know it’s a big opportunity for me. I am very excited to play for Odisha FC.” – said Nikhil Raj after signing for the Odisha FC

The Juggernauts have signed some talented domestic players for the upcoming season. They have done well so far to build a strong team. The primary focus of the club will be to bounce back after a disappointing bottom-placed finish last season.

Nikhil Raj is the lasted signing for the Odisha-based club. Moreover, they have signed two Spanish players with ISL experience namely Victor Mongil and Javi Hernández who have already won the Indian Super title in India.
