Koeman throws light into Dembele future

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

FC Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman is hopeful that Ousmane Dembele will stay at the club. Dembele has not made an appearance this season after undergoing his surgery in the summer.

Koeman is hopeful that Dembele will decide on his future and stay in Barcelona. But, the current contract of the 24-year-old will come to an end in the summer of 2022 and he is yet to sign a new contract.

Dembele has been plagued by injuries ever since his big-money move from Borussia Dortmund. There is mounting interest in the Frenchman from the likes of Newcastle United, Liverpool and Juventus.

DEMBELE IS IMPORTANT FOR US SAYS KOEMAN

“We want Ousmane Dembele to stay with us, he is an important player, our goal is for him to renew,”- said Koeman in a recent press conference.

Ever since his move to Barcelona in 2017, Dembele has not featured much for his club. He only appeared 118 times for Barcelona across all competitions and has scored 30 goals and assisted 21. However, he is yet to make an appearance this season.

The contract situation of Dembele is concerning for Barcelona. With only one more season to go before his contract ends, Dembele can start negotiating with other clubs from January. Many clubs are looking to give him a way out of Barcelona and the Frenchman could be ready for a fresh start.
