Koeman wants Memphis Depay over Aguero at Barcelona this summer

Barcelona definitely miss their #9, Luis Suarez. The same Suarez who is currently the second top scorer in La Liga just behind Lionel Messi. So Koeman is eager to bring a striker at Barcelona to replace Suarez and he wants Memphis Depay.

With Sergio Aguero’s contract coming to an end this summer with Manchester City it looks highly likely that he might end up partnering his Argentine star Messi, whose future might be in doubt at Barcelona after the end of this season.

Aguero has been a consistent performer for Man City for over a decade now, since his arrival at City in the summer of 2011, he has scored 254 goals for Man City till date and still counting and has proven himself as one of the most clinical strikers in the Premier League history.

Age might catch up with Sergio Aguero so Koeman wants someone who is young enough to rebuild his squad and found the 27-year-old Memphis Depay as a better option for Barcelona.

Depay, who currently plays for Olympique Lyon as a striker has found the net 86 times for his club till date. Koeman, who himself used to coach the Dutch team sees great potential in him and is eager to bring him to Barcelona before the end of this summer’s transfer window.

Will Koeman’s be able to bring Memphis Depay to Camp Nou as Barcelona suffers financially?

Koeman has been an admirer of Depay’s skills and abilities as he has previously worked with him while coaching the Dutch National team. However, Barcelona are in a financial crisis and have to overcome their financial debts.

However, after Joan Laporta got elected, the tables might start to turn in the direction for Barcelona again. He has not yet met with Koeman but would be eager to know his plan and also would be keen to discuss the transfer policy and summer targets with him as he looks to take the club where it belongs.
