Former champion Chennaiyin FC who have won the title twice have announced the signing of Kyrgyz forward Mirlan Murzaev on a season-long deal on Sunday. He will be the first player from Kyrgyz to feature in the top-level league in India.

The 31 years old right-winger had represented Kyrgyzstan scoring 29 goals in his 49 appearances for the National team. The player is also the highest goal scorer for the National team. Moreover, he has scored more than 100 goals in the Kyrgyz League.

He started his career playing for one of Kyrgyzstan-based club Muras-Sport Bishkek. The winger also played for clubs in countries such as Turkey and Cyprus.

Mirlan had scored three goals last month against Myanmar playing for the National Team in the FIFA World Cup qualification match for 2022. Kyrgyzstan won that match by an 8-1 margin.

“I’m just very very happy to join Chennaiyin FC. I can’t wait for the training, and season to start. I look forward to representing all the fans from Tamil Nadu,”– said the Kyrgyz forward Mirlan Murzaev

Supporters saw Marina Machans struggling to win matches very often last season as they finished the season with just 3 wins in their bag.

The Chennaiyin FC will start the upcoming campaign in the quest for their third ISL title while Mirlan would aim to make a name for himself in his first ISL season.
