Argentine legend and PSG forward, Lionel Messi showed his class again, scoring twice and assisting once in a sensational 5-0 victory over Clermont on Saturday. Most notable was his final goal of the game, which sent fans and PSG chief Christophe Galtier speechless in awe.
In the 86th Minute, Messi made a run through Cleremont’s defence as Leandro Paredes crossed a ball in. He controlled the ball with a bounce on his chest, before converting it with an acrobatic overhead kick, sending it over goalkeeper Diaw. The crowd went wild at this goal and chanted the seven-time Ballon’dor winner’s name in its aftermath.
Apart from Messi, Aschraf Hakimi, Marquinhos and Neymar all scored one goal each. Neymar was also responsible for three assists.
Is this an indication of Lionel Messi’s Return to Form?
Since his arrival to Paris from Barcelona, Messi noticeably struggled last season, with only fifteen goals and eleven assists in all competitions.
Messi also featured in PSG’s 4-0 victory against Nantes during the Domestic Super Cup. He scored once in that match, while Neymar scored a brace; giving the South American duo a total of six goals between them.
