Manchester United in Race to Sign Sevilla’ Star Defender

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Manchester United have been alerted by Sevilla lowering the release clause of defender Jules Kounde. His release clause is currently around £50 million and the English club would be eager to get the deal done.

The club is also considering the transfer of another La Liga player, Raphael Varane from Real Madrid. However, Kounde would be the better deal as he would fit into Manchester United’s playing style easily.

The 22-year-old center-back has been impressive for the past few months looking dangerous while going forward and also staying alert while defending. His current contract expires on June 30, 2024.

Kounde could be the defender Manchester United is looking for!

Jules Kounde had been a prolific defender for his current club, Sevilla. He had appeared 71 times and also scored 5 goals in his stint at the Spanish club.

The France U21 International would not mind moving to the Premier League with the Red Devils. Also, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are in desperate need of a defender to pair alongside captain Harry Maguire.

The existing center-backs have not impressed so far and the club would be working on this issue. Eric Bailly was originally thought of by many as Maguire’s partner, however, the Ivorian is injured almost every 2 weeks.

Manchester United currently sit 2nd, 14 points behind runaway leaders, Manchester City. Jules Kounde also attracted the latter club but they ended up signing Ruben Dias.

Real Madrid are also reportedly interested in Kounde as they have identified him as a replacement for the veteran skipper, Sergio Ramos. However, it seems that Manchester United are currently the front-runners in the race to sign him.

They are also considering other options like Ben White from Brighton, RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate, and Borussia Dortmund’s Zagadou.
