Manchester United might release Casemiro as club looking for options

Reports suggest that Casemiro has expressed regret over his transfer from Real Madrid to Manchester United. Additionally, reports say that Manchester United is preparing to secure a £61 million replacement for him.

Casemiro, the Brazil international, joined Old Trafford during the summer of 2022. He made a significant impact during his first season under Erik ten Hag. However, in the current season, the Brazilian has been encountering difficulties. That is including missing the recent win against Sheffield and being unavailable for the Champions League match against Copenhagen on Tuesday.

It appears that opposition managers have been intentionally targeting the 31-year-old Casemiro in recent matches. Additionally, former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen has expressed the belief that Casemiro may struggle to adapt to the style of play that Erik ten Hag is attempting to implement at the club.

Louis Saha believes that Manchester United might be demanding too much from Casemiro. While Sir Jim Ratcliffe thinks that the club made an error by signing him last year.

What is Manchester United planning to do with Casemiro?

Catalonian outlet Nacional has reported that Casemiro now “regrets” his transfer from Real Madrid to Manchester United. His tenure at United could be relatively brief, with the midfielder reportedly concerned about the “institutional instability” within the club.

Reports indicate that Manchester United is not happy with Casemiro. And as a potential replacement, the club is considering the acquisition of Joao Neves from Benfica. Manchester United has reportedly evaluated Neves and is aware that they will need to offer a minimum of €70 million (£61 million) to secure the services of the Portuguese international.

Joao Neves, at the age of 19, is a product of Benfica’s youth academy and has already amassed 32 appearances for the Portuguese club thus far.
