“Manipur is the future of Indian football”- Chief Minister Biren Singh

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has stated that Manipur is the future of Indian football. And the state government has included funding in the budget to create a Football Academy in the state.

During the closing ceremony of the 13th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial State Open Football Tournament- 2023. It was at the SAI Sports Complex in Takyel. The chief minister revealed that 45 Manipur footballers representing various football teams are competing in the I-League Football Competition.

Manipur, despite its small population, has made significant contributions to games and sports, according to the chief minister.

Biren Singh On future of Indian Football

He urged the CRPF to submit a proposal to take the event to the national level, emphasising his desire to do so. Moreover, he asked that from the next year, the event take place in Khuman Lampak’s major stadium.

N Biren stated that the state government is giving priority to specific disciplines due to the physical structure of the people of the state, and that monies had been provided in the budget for the development of seven grassy football grounds in the state.

Also, he announced that the state will host a Tri-Nation Friendly Football Tournament, saying that the state has been granted this opportunity because of the successes of our athletes.

Sagolband United and Classic Football Academy competed for the championship. Classic Football Academy won the event 7-0 over Sagolband United.

At the occasion, the Chief Minister also honoured Ng Memcha, Shaheed Manoranjan Singh’s mother.

In addition to Dr. Thangjam Dhabali, Chairman and Managing Director of BABINA Group, and top CRPF personnel, S. Kunjakeswor Singh, Chairman of Manipur Electronic Development Corporation, P. Doungel, Director General of Police, Manipur, and others attended the closing ceremony.
