According to an AI company, they claim Martin Zubimendi and Orkun Kökçü as the best options to replace Sergio Busquets. Meanwhile, Busquets is to leave the club by the end of the season.
FC Barcelona’s midfielder Sergio Busquets revealed his plans to leave the club at the end of the season. Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi has been one of those potential replacements for the departing veteran.
However, it seems that Kökçü is not currently viewed as a potential replacement for the departing midfielder. Barcelona didn’t express any interest in him.
Will Barcelona go for Martin Zubimendi?
According to Olocip AI, their system analyzed holding midfielders who meet specific criteria. Including being under 25 years old and having played in at least 80 matches for a minimum of 1000 minutes in their careers.
Thus as per their analysis, Martin Zubimendi is the most similar player to Busquets. With a similarity rating of 86%.
The top five most similar players to Busquets, in order, were Zubimendi, Declan Rice (West Ham), Ibrahim Sangaré (PSV Eindhoven), Edson Álvarez (Ajax), and Orkun Kökçü (Feyenoord). However, it is worth noting that Kökçü is not currently on Barcelona’s radar.
Although Kökçü was not highly similar to Busquets compared to other players, Olocip’s AI deemed him as the most likely to succeed at Barcelona due to his playmaking abilities. He is the most suitable with Barcelona’s style of play. However, the AI suggested that Kökçü would need to improve in defensive areas to fully fit into Barcelona’s midfield.
Meanwhile, Declan Rice came out as the best player in defensive qualities. However, he is lacking in offensive actions.
