Max Eberl is apparently interested in joining Liverpool as their new sporting director. While Bayern Munich is also supposedly in contact with him.

According to 90min, the Reds have discussed a possible transfer with the German’s representation. Eberl has been available since RB Leipzig fired him in September.

Jorge Schmadtke was appoint in the summer. But his contract with the Reds is only for one year. Therefore Liverpool is actively searching for a new sports director.

The 50-year-old Eberl is one of Germany’s top sporting directors. And his work at Borussia Monchengladbach in particular is highly noteworthy.

And it appears that one of the biggest teams in Europe will be getting the transfer expert. As Liverpool and Bayern are currently vying for Eberl’s services.

In fact, it makes sense that the former Leipzig employee would sign with Bayern. But Eberl could be drawn to the idea of working with Liverpool in the Premier League and with Jurgen Klopp.

Although Eberl’s most recent position with Leipzig didn’t exactly cast the sports director in the best possible light, there’s no disputing that the German is a person who would fit in well at most elite teams.

Furthermore, Liverpool may be the ideal fit for the former Bundesliga official, who himself could enjoy stepping up to a new challenge outside of his own country.

Liverpool makes a lot of sense for the transfer expert, especially since Klopp is someone who may get along well with Eberl. However, the Reds will need to move quickly since Bayern is suddenly a threat.
