Milan to hold talks about the future of Manchester United loanee

AC Milan are reportedly willing to sit down with Manchester United and discuss the future of versatile full-back Diogo Dalot in the upcoming summer transfer window. 

Dalot joined the Rossoneri in a simple loan deal from the Red Devils last summer. The 22-year-old right-back has made 30 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A giant, contributing two goals and three assists in the process.

After having injury interrupted a couple of seasons at Old Trafford, the Portuguese wing-back lost his place following the arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn’t fancy him for his lack of defensive quality. Which forced him to move out of the Premier League. 

Dalot has been in pretty decent form since his move to the San Siro. He looked lively and found his confidence under Stefano Pioli for the Rossoneri. And now Milan are eager to buy him permanently. Following the rumors that Napoli are also keeping an eye on the situation. 

Will Milan sign Dalot permanently from Manchester United? 

According to reports, AC Milan are yet to decide about the future of the Manchester United loanee. They haven’t been convinced yet by the performance of the talented attacking wing-back. 

Milan will sit down at the table with Manchester United at the end of this campaign and discuss the future. They don’t want to overpay for the defender which United might try to do. 

Diogo Dalot joined Porto’s youth system in 2008, aged nine. On 28 January 2017, he made his senior debut with the B team, playing the full 90 minutes in a 2–1 home loss against Leixões S.C. for the LigaPro championship.

He signed for Manchester United on 6 June 2018 on a five-year contract for a fee of £19 million. He made his debut on 19 September 2018 in an away UEFA Champions League group stage match against Swiss side Young Boys. On 26 January 2020, he scored the second goal in a 6–0 FA Cup win against Tranmere Rovers, it was his first goal for United.

Dalot has a contract with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side until June 2023. Napoli has also shown interest in the Portuguese footballer after his display in the 2020-2021 season. They want him as a replacement for the departing full-back Elseid Hysaj.
