Mohammedan SC interested in signing Serbian World cupper Stefan Ilic

I-League Side Mohammedan SC are keen to sign Serbian World Cupper Stefan Ilic from Serbia’s first-tier club OFK Backa.

The 26 years old center forward represented U-20 that took part in the Youth World Cup 2015. Serbia finished as the champion of the Championship that season. He also played for the heavyweight Serbian Club Red Star Belgrade. Currently, he is playing his trade for Serbia’s first division club OFK Backa.

Mohammedan SC have signed Russian coach Andrey Chernyshov ahead of the I-League season, it was Andrey who suggested signing Stefan.

The Serbian World Cupper had already played under the Black Panthers’ current head coach Andrey Chernyshov at Spartak Subotica.

Certainly, the Mohammedan Sporting Club have had a huge fan base during the last season. As the club was promoted to the I-League after 7 long years.

But the club faced controversy when they dismissed former head coach Yan Law mid-way in the I-League 2020-21 season. The club sacked Yan Law for allegedly leaking team information. Later the club signed Jose Hevia as head coach but soon dismissed him for poor results in the tournament.

With the signing of the new coach, supporters will be hoping to see the club perform better in the upcoming season.
