Nerijus Valskis Could Terminate Contract With Jamshedpur FC

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Jamshedpur FC’s center forward Nerijus Valskis could terminate his contract with the club. Although his present contract with the club runs till 2022.

Valskis joined The Men of Steel in August 2020 on a free transfer from Chennaiyin FC. He appeared in 18 fixtures and scored the most number of goals for the club in the Indian Super League 2020-21 edition.

He stood sixth in the top goal scorer list with 8 goals in his name. But Jamshedpur FC managed to finish 6th by the end of the season.

According to internal sources, the 33-year-old Lithuanian striker is not happy in the club. However, there are differences in opinions between him and the head coach Owen Coyle. It is certainly surprising considering the reason for the potential termination of the contract. As Owen demanded to reunite with Valskis while he signed as head coach of the Jamshedpur-based side.

Nerijus is under the radar of some ISL clubs like Kerala Blasters, NorthEast United, and Chennaiyin FC. Most probably he will be getting many offers once he leaves the club.

Valskis ISL Carrer Before His Spell In Jamshedpur FC:

Valskis won the golden boot in his debut season playing for the Chennaiyin FC under the guidance of his present boss Owen Coyle. He was the leading goal scorer of the Indian Super League 2019-20 edition with 15 goals in his name. His goals helped Marina Machans to enter the finals and scored one goal for his team in the finals but unfortunately, they were beaten by 3-1 by Atlético de Kolkata.
