Newcastle are keen on signing FC Midtjylland youngster Jens Cajuste this summer. Promoted side Brentford too appear to be in the race for the Swede.
Even Stade Rennes were in pursuit of the midfielder. However, the Ligue 1 one side are currently short on funds. This gives the two English clubs a brief window to snap up the Swedish international.
Cajuste is a five-cap Sweden international, who has been with FC Midtjylland since 2018. The defensive midfield star has racked up 69 appearances so far and has a contract until 2023.
Sports Lens reports that Newcastle view Cajuste as a long-term signing who could develop into a future star. He is seen as a potential replacement for the likely-to-depart, Issac Hayden. The youngster has all the qualities to thrive in the Premier League.
Brentford are looking to strengthen their squad following promotion to the Premier League. Cajuste looks to be ideal player for them.
However, there is no potential offer from the Premier League clubs for Cajuste. Currently, it is unclear whether Newcastle or Brentford will follow up their reported interest.
Cajuste is highly rated, and the Premier League duo will have to make their move quickly if they want to stay ahead of the competition.
