PSG head coach Mauricio Pochettino has Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson on his wish-list. The Reds captain has two years left on his current contract. With no talks over an extension yet, an exit from Anfield could be on the cards.
Jordan Henderson is facing an uncertain future with a number of Europe’s top clubs vying for his signature. Atletico Madrid and PSG are monitoring the situation. They might make a move for Henderson if the opportunity arises.
The Athletic reports that new PSG boss Pochettino is a great admirer of Henderson. He is closely monitoring the situation as it develops. The former Spurs coach is a fan of Henderson’s aggressive playstyle.
The 31-year-old is one of only five players to have played 10 seasons in the Premier League for Liverpool. He has been a driving force in the success achieved during Jurgen Klopp’s reign.
Henderson, a key figure
Henderson has been outstanding for Liverpool over the years. Under his leadership, Liverpool clinched the Premier League title. Henderson lifted the Champions League in Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in June 2019.
Liverpool’s No.14 has made 361 appearances, netting 31 times and assisting 47 in the Premier League. Henderson “believes he can play at the highest level into his mid-30s and is not interested in a managed decline.”
The Reds had to let go of Wijnaldum due to unfavorable circumstances. Klopp would detest losing another influential figure in Henderson.
A busy summer is in store for Liverpool in terms of renegotiations. Shaqiri, Grujic, Wilson and Ojo look to make a summer exit. Alisson Becker, Fabinho, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are all in line for new deals. Henderson now finds himself in a position where he could move on.
