Real Madrid are reportedly looking at Bruno Guimaraes from Olympique Lyonnais. Los Blancos are in search for a midfield augmentation and have set their sights on the young Brazilian.
Real Madrid want to invest in their midfield this summer :
Luka Modric is nearing the end of a fantastic time at the Bernabeu. Toni Kroos finds himself entering his 30s, turning 31 a while back. Casemiro too will join Kroos in the 30-club by the end of the new season.
It is essential Real now think of the future and work towards finding suitable successors to their midfield three.
Bruno Guimaraes joined Olympique Lyonnais from Athletico Paranaense in January 2020 for £18,000,000. Since his move, he has cemented his place in the starting eleven.
A Budding Talent
Operating in the middle of the park, he has made 46 appearances for Lyon. In that time, he has registered 3 goals and 2 assists.
Guimaraes is regarded as a deep-lying playmaker and a box-to-box midfielder. The 23-year-old constantly seeks to play quick forward passes, especially accurate long-balls. He does this by judging the position of his teammates and opponents before receiving the ball.
He is energetic off the ball as well and always attempts to make passes forward. This trait is vital for any team wanting to hit back quickly on the counter.
Looking at his club level exploits, Brazil called him up. He is currently representing his country at the Tokyo Olympics. The youngster had previously caught Barcelona‘s eye. Real Madrid are now eyeing Guimaraes too.
It is left to be seen if this interest becomes something serious. Lyon’s valuation of the midfielder will play an important role.
