Real Madrid hopeful of getting injured players back for Shakhtar Donetsk

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

The 13-time Champions League winners Real Madrid are fighting against time to get their players back to fitness. The Los Blancos will have another week to get their players ready as they will face Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League next.

The current injury list of Real Madrid is very high. The club was forced to play a depleted squad in their loss against Espanyol in the La Liga, right before the international break.

However manager Carlo Ancelotti is hopeful of getting at least 5 players back to the squad when they face their next opponent. For Real Madrid, the La Liga match against Athletic Bilbao was postponed due to the South American World Cup qualifiers. Thus they will have till the 19th to get their players fit before their next match.

INJURIES A CONCERN FOR REAL MADRID

Of the injured players it will be too early for Dani Ceballos and Gareth Bale to be ready for Shakhtar Donetsk. But it is a good sign that Ferlan Mendy was part of the group training. Marcus Asensio also trained individually giving a more positive sign for Real Madrid.

The other players include the likes of Casemiro, Isco, Marcelo, Daniel Carvajal, Eden Hazard and Mariano Diaz. It is still not sure how many of them will be able to return against Shakthar. Madrid faced a shock home defeat to newcomers FC Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League.

Hence it is important for manager Carlo Ancelotti to bounce back with a victory against Shakhtar Donetsk. In La Liga however, the club is at the top of the table sharing the same point as Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad.
