Real Madrid interested in signing Calvert-Lewin this summer

According to Daily Mail, Real Madrid is eyeing a transfer for Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton in this summer transfer window. Carlo Ancelotti had a reliable relationship with his former player and wants to continue that by signing him for Los Blancos.

Calvert-Lewin started his football career with Sheffield United, following which he went to play for Stalybridge Celtic and Northampton town later his career. However, he had been able to rise to his potential after he signed for Everton in 2016.

The England international had been the mainstay in upfront at Goodison Park since his joining. Till now, he has appeared 173 times, while chipping in 53 goals in all competitions for Everton. However, his form last season under Carlo Ancelotti was very commendable.

The forward had been called up for 39 times by his manager in which he was able to score 21 goals in all competitions. Following his impressive form for Everton, he has been included in England squad for Euro 2020 by Gareth Southgate.

However, the main news is, his former club manager is interested to bring him to Spain for the next season to fit him upfront. Calvert-Lewin has still three years left in his contract at Goodison Park. But the club might be forced to sell him this summer due to their bad financial condition.

Real Madrid plans to sign Calvert-Lewin for next season

After suffering a major disappointment last season by failing to lift any trophy, Real Madrid is looking into plans to return to its glory. Currently, they have made two replacements in the team as they signed Ancelotti to replace Zinedine Zidane. While they also signed David Alaba as a free agent for their backline next season.

However, the club still needs to focus on the attacking department, as they failed to have a good form in front of the goal. It was only Karim Benzema at upfront who was carrying the whole team last season in terms of scoring goals.

Since Ancelotti returned for his second spell at Real Madrid, he has made his plans clear for the next season. The Italian has pointed out the shortage of good attacking options in the team. Following which he has asked the club to sign a new player to pair with Benzema.

Ancelotti has already included his former players Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin in his plan. While he has also asked the club to sign the Chelsea forward Timo Werner next season. But he might not be getting Werner, as Thomas Tuchel has no interest in letting the German leave.

However, he might have some confidence in signing his former Everton forwards. It is believed that the Premier League club might value Calvert-Lewin at €50 million. But Madrid may be able to sign the forward at a low price, following Everton’s financial condition. So, let’s see if Calvert-Lewin will reunite with his former manager, or Ancelotti would sign another player for his attack.
