Real Madrid eye incisive winger Moussa Diaby

The 23-year-old Bayer Leverkusen attacker has been outstanding this season, with 14 goals and 10 assists in all competitions. Real Madrid is now monitoring his progress. But his signing will be approved only if there is a significant departure from the roster.

As reporter Jose Felix Diaz writes for MARCA, only the departure of someone like Eden Hazard will allow Madrid to pursue Diaby. At the same time, signing the french winger will be a difficult prospect. Mostly since there are reports in Germany that Leverkusen has set a starting point of close to €50 million. Real Madrid’s interest in obtaining Diaby arises from the fact that they lack an good winger on the right flank. And, with Mariano Diaz’s impending departure and Hazard’s uncertain future, it’s only natural for the team to hunt for reinforcements.

Diaby, who joined Leverkusen from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, now has a deal with the club until 2025, which will be a problem for Real Madrid. Above all, the Merengues are not the only team interested in the teenager. Premier league giants Arsenal and Manchester United also reportedly interested. Therefore this situation is likely to lead to a bidding war, and judging by the financial might of the Premier League clubs, they are more than capable of giving Real Madrid a run for their money. However, one must not overlook the allure of playing for the reigning European champions.
