On Saturday, July 22, 2023, the SAFF U16 Championship 2023 and SAFF U19 Championship 2023 draws were held at the BFF House in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
India was moreover put in Group A with Nepal and Bangladesh for the U16 competition. Pakistan, the Maldives, and Bhutan, the hosts, were placed in Group B. From September 1 to 10, 2023, moreover the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu will host the SAFF U16 Championship.
The hosts Nepal, the Maldives, and Pakistan made up Group A, while the India U19s were placed in Group B together with Bhutan and Bangladesh. The Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu moreover will host the SAFF U19 Championship 2023 from September 21–30.
Both contests follow the same format. The top two teams from each group will face off in the semi-finals, with the winners advancing to the final, following a single round-robin group round.
India moreover won the U20 and U17 age division SAFF youth competitions that were held in 2022. The U20 team from India defeated Bangladesh 5-2 in the championship game in Bhubaneswar, while the U17 team from Sri Lanka easily defeated Nepal 4-0 in the summit game.
