Sergi Roberto uplifts future youngsters aspiring to play for Barcelona

Sergi Roberto

Barcelona has a reputation for having several players who remained with the club throughout their careers. Players like Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez, and Carlos Puyol are some notable examples. They spent most of their playing days at the Blaugrana.

Sergi Roberto is among the players who have spent their entire careers with Barcelona. He joined the club as a teenager in 2006. After completing his training at La Masia academy, he made his first-team debut in 2010. Since then, he has been an integral part of the squad. Recently, Sergi Roberto also extended his contract with the La Liga leaders for one year, with the option of an extension if they meet specific conditions.

What did Sergi Roberto say after his contract renewal?

According to MD, after signing his new contract, Sergi Roberto spoke to Barca TV. He offered words of inspiration to the next generation of youngsters who aspire to play for the club. Roberto said:

“It’s very difficult to get into the first team. I encourage you all. With a dream, you can work hard and fulfil it. I hope that many more young people come out of the academy.”

On the other hand, Sergi Roberto has his sights set on helping Barcelona secure a domestic treble by the end of the season. Nevertheless, the team is well-positioned to add the La Liga and Copa del Rey titles to their recent Spanish Super Cup victory.

Meanwhile, Barcelona now sit 9 points above Real Madrid and is in a real comfortable position. With their recent departure from the Europa, Barcelona will focus solely on the league and tournaments surrounding Spain only.
