Ten Hag’s Target: Denzel Dumfries to Redefine Manchester United’s Defense

Denzel Dumfries

Denzel Dumfries is a top attacking full-back in European football, but his future with Inter Milan is uncertain. His current contract ends in summer 2025. Still there hasn’t been any progress on extending it because of differences in wages.

This might lead to him leaving at the end of the season, and FC Inter News reports United’s interest in signing him. Manager Erik ten Hag is said to greatly admire Dumfries and is a key figure behind the interest.

However, the outlet also mentions that Aston Villa is in the running to sign the Dutch star. They have reached out to the representatives of Denzel Dumfries. Inter hopes for an auction of sorts to secure a higher transfer fee.

Denzel Dumfries Abilities Capture Ten Hag’s Interest

Dumfries has proven himself as one of the top attacking full-backs. He began his career as a right-back but now plays solely as a right wing-back for the Nerazzurri. This season, the 27-year-old has scored 2 goals and provided 4 assists in 20 appearances. Additionally, he has also been solid defensively. His attacking abilities might be a factor in ten Hag’s interest.

The Dutch head coach currently has Diogo Dalot as the only attacking choice for the right-back position. Aaron Wan-Bissaka doesn’t offer the same attacking threat by overlapping, and there’s a possibility he might leave this summer as the club hasn’t extended his contract, which ends in June next year.

Inter Milan previously priced Denzel Dumfries at £43 million, but he might now be cheaper as he nears the end of his contract. He currently earns £53,000 per week at Inter, and a doubling of his wages could convince him to move to United in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Denzel Dumfries’ potential transfer to Manchester United seems more feasible as his contract with Inter Milan approaches its end. With Inter lowering their asking price and the possibility of doubling his wages, Dumfries could be persuaded to make the move to United during the upcoming summer transfer window.
