After 8 years and 16 trophies, Isco Alarcon could finally leave Real Madrid with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur monitoring the situation closely.
New boss Carlo Ancelotti will decide the Spain international’s fate when the two meet. Isco has a year left on his current contract at Real. A renewal seems unlikely so Real Madrid must move him on this summer if they are to get a reasonable fee.
For a while, the 29-year-old has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid. He had started seeing lesser minutes under Zidane in the 2020/21 season. There was some speculation of a move to Sevilla. The prospect of his reunion with Julen Lopetegui, a great fan of the Spaniard, made it sound realistic.
Sevilla sporting director Monchi shot down the rumours when he indicated their disinterest in buying him.
Current Senario
Isco joined Real Madrid from Málaga CF and has made over 300 La Liga apprearances. Yet, he has started only 34 league games in the last three seasons and is seen as surplus to requirements. The midfielder’s value surged to around €90,000,000 in 2018. He was considered to be one of the best attacking midfielders across Europe.
However, his form and his value dwindled and his valuation now is roughly €18,000,000.
Arsenal are in the market for an attacking midfielder. This is following Martin Odegaard’s impressive loan spell at the Gunners last season. The youngster confirmed he would not be returning to Arsenal. Simultaneously, Smith Rowe’s future hangs in the balance amid interest from Aston Villa.
Tottenham too have expressed in Isco. Spurs are able to offer European football, as they compete in the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League.
